Jennifer Robinson is a human rights lawyer, best known for her defence of and advocacy for Julian Assange, but in this TEDxSydney talk she tells the story of West Papuan leader Benny Wenda.
He’s a man whose struggle for the independence of his country and people has led to his imprisonment in isolation by Indonesia. He is a very impressive and tenacious man and has become a close mate of Robinson’s.
He’s not a figure who’s not immediately identifiable on the global stage; but he’s a leader of a tiny country who’s taken on a powerful opponent and isn’t prepared to back down. And he has a tenacious ally in Robinson.
In this TEDx talk, Robinson details her advocacy for the independence movement of West Papua.
